ICreate Lab Exploration
5c: Use a variety of instructional approaches to help students frame problems in ways that can be represented as computational steps or algorithms to be performed by a computer.
Today the class explored our Icreate Lab on campus. This a lab in the library that has a bunch of different technology to create an endless number of things. We specifically learned each of the machines then dispersed into groups among them to further explore and engage with each piece of technology.
Each piece of technology was used to do different things that could relate to each subject in school. Connecting the standards to my experience as well as connecting them to what I could for my students as a teacher is an important thing that was discussed. And I chose:
Standard 1: Empowered Learner. Students understand the fundamental concepts of technology operations, demonstrate the ability to choose, use and troubleshoot current technologies, and are able to transfer their knowledge to explore emerging technologies.
I chose this standard because it’s basically what we did in class today and easy to do for future students. In any subject we could have the students do a small tour to learn the basic operations of each station. Each station could be explained and given examples specific to whichever subject they are in the lab for. Then allow them to choose which station they would like to further explore. Just like we did today in class, having the students transfer their knowledge and explore is a great ending to the activity!
Today I explored the vinyl printer making stickers. this can be used for so many different things for many different subjects. and the small tour helped with the fundamental concepts of technology operations. The individual station demonstrated the ability to choose, and the exploration was to use and troubleshoot current technologies, and transfer knowledge to explore.
Here are a few videos and pictures to sum up my experience with the vinyl printer!
Hi Courtani! Great job on your blog post! I love reading about what you experience in the Icreate lab! I personally am going to use the standard you put. I put 5c which you may consider using!

Hi Courtani! I think standard 5 can fit your blog like Jasmine said. Overall I think your blog is really good. I love the pictures, but I feel you could see about enlarging them.
